Lexington Destination Imagination Teaches Creativity and Problem Solving for Kids Info session September 17 Signup open until October 11
Destination Imagination (DI) is a program that teaches STEM principles as well as performing arts to K-12 students through creative and collaborative problem solving challenges. Team members work together to develop a solution to one of 7 open-ended challenges and present their solutions at a tournament in March. Through the challenges, students learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation and learn skills needed to succeed in school, career and life, including teamwork, communication, project management, perseverance, creative and critical thinking, and self-confidence. The interesting and challenging part is that only students can provide solutions! Any adult advice or help is considered "interference" and is against the rules. This is so that children are empowered to find a solution through their own creativity and collaboration.
DI organizers are currently planning an all-town informational meeting to be held on September 17 at 7 pm, School Administration Building, 146 Maple Street, Lexington. Come learn about the program and talk with organizers and participants.
